The Royal Knights of King David was an Black fraternal organization founded by John Merrick. The inscription by the book's owner, Robert W. Bynum (August 7, 1891-August 10, 1975) who worked for 47 years at American Tobacco, references his lodge, the "Allston Favorite # 458" as well as the "Walltown Lodge #533."
