Abstract/Description: Klopfer is a former Duke professor and co-founder of the Duke Lemur Center and Carolina Friends School. Topics covered include the civil rights activities of Duke students and faculty, and Klopfer's Supreme Court case. Klopfer was jailed in 1964 for protesting segregation in restaurants; he became the plaintiff in the 1967 Supreme Court case Klopfer v. North Carolina, which upheld the Speedy Trial Clause of the Sixth Amendment.
