Abstract/Description: | Photo shows stadium filled to capacity for football game. Note Duke Chapel, West Campus buildings, and Duke Hospital in center distance. Stadium was later named Wallace Wade Stadium in honor of Duke's football coach. During his tenure the only Rose Bowl game played outside of California was played here in 1942, because of wartime concerns about the west coast. |
