Abstract/Description: | Mrs. Teresa Claggett, music director, is on the far right. Mrs. Claggett (1899-1970) was instructor of voice and piano at Hillside for 40 years. Having been a student over the years at Cornell University, Ithaca Conservatory of Music and Columbia University, as well as University of North Carolina, she introduced classical music to the Black schools of Durham starting in the 1920s. |
