Abstract/Description: | Buchanan (who died in 1938) was a respected music professor for Durham's Black community (including for noted bandleader, Frank Wright). Buchanan taught vocal and instrumental music, and listed as a piano teacher first at 1015 and later at 1109 Fayetteville Street in the Durham city directories of the 1920s. His mother, Tempie Buchanan, is buried in the Geer Street Cemetery. |
