Abstract/Description: The author, Charles Leonidas Bynum (1897-1975) was the son of Joseph Bynum and Mariah Goodloe. He went to Wilberforce University and later also worked at North Carolina Mutual in the 1920s. His hand-written contemporary summary of his four high school years mentions the names of many of his classmates and teachers, including teachers: Mrs. Green, Mrs. Burton, Mrs. Winslow, Miss Elizabeth Miller from D.C., Mrs. Hunter, Miss Sumner, Mrs. B. A. Whitted, Professor I.N. Cummings, and students: Mary Sneed, Roxie Holloway, Effie Albright, Cleo Hargett, Mary Canady, Clarence Street, Irene Strudwick, Maggie Hicks, Mamie Haywood (later Mrs. McDonald), John Holloway, Fentress Dawkins, Price Stephens, Arthur Johnson and Kittie Digger.
